Estonia Exchange; April 2017 by Lennart and Levin

In April 2017 we visited Kanepi, Estonia. We were hosted by Anne and Kalmer Kukk, who have a nice big house near the Kanepi Gümnaasium. While our time there it snowed, which was very different from the weather in Germany. In general the climate in Estonia is relatively cold. Furthermore, the infrastructure in Estonia is not that good as in Germany. The streets are often made from soil and not in a good condition. Thats why we could not imagine to live in Estonia. . We collected some impressions about Estonia and we experienced the wonderful nature while spending time in the woods or rafting in Leevi. For example we saw kingfishers and the typical estonian bird: the swallow.

Kanepi is a small village with 700 inhabitants. Nonetheless there are two shops to buy food and the things for daily life. Our impression is, that most estonians are shy, because they do not use to talk a lot.

We had a few lessons in school as well, but PE was our favourite one. Moreover the school building seems to be very large for only 168 students.

Our host family was very friendly and although they do not speak english and only a litte bit german we coped well with them. The food was delicious and good.

All in all the exchange was a good experience and we were happy that Anne and Kalmer hosted us.
