We reached Riga on the 30th of March by airplane. From the
air we already got an awesome impression of the baltic landscape with its unspoilt
nature. After Landing we drove with a bus to Kanepi which took like 4 hours so
that we arrived late in the evening. Then my host Tauno picked me up and we went
to his home not far away.
I noticed there are hospitable hosts in Estonia, because I
was very welcome. Furthermore I had the oppurtunity to get a own room which was
really kind.
Now I want to mention some impressions of the school:
Firstly I was surprised that there are so small classes with for instance six people.
That is why it must had been a real challenge for the Estonians to organize
everything. Moreover despite some dilapidated conditions of the building the
school seems to be quite smart because for example they own many tablets which
the students can use. Another big compliment I have to make is that everyone is
so kind which should be same in Germany.
As time goes on Tauno showed me Kanepi by car and it was
very interesting to me. I determined for example that Kanepi is a very lovely town
where nearly every citizen knows each other. In Addition I could see some
cultural important places like the culture house where we had a big party with
lots of tradition and music! The most impressing thing I remember is the great
rough nature with its deep forests and hilly fields. There are also lots of
seas and swamps which was quite new for me.
Above all I must say the Estonians offered us e really
exciting program which I enjoyed so much. We were rafting, in the Science
Center, in the Aqua Park, in Restaurants, at meetings with some friends, …
In conclusion I would say it was one of my greatest
experiences in my life to visit Estonia and participate in this student Exchange.
It was totally worth it and I would always do this again!
